Nelly Furtado’s Set to Release New Album “The Ride” in March 2017

If you mentioned Nelly Furtado’s name, it would be to reminisce on her hits such as Promiscuous and Say it Right. Seems like her name got lost in the early 2000’s, but don’t forget her just yet. The Canadian singer is releasing new music in 2017!

Her oldie, but goodie, “I’m Like A Bird” made it to #9 of the Billboard Hot 100 List in 2000. Even the world adopted this song as their favorite, making it to #1 in the Canadian Hot 100, and #2 in places like New Zealand and Australia in 2000.

She rose to the top of the charts with this single and everyone loved her. This song was played for any type of occasion, and she was an instant hit. We need some Nelly back in our lives!

Let’s just say we have all been waiting for some new music from Furtado to start hitting the charts…AND IT’S FINALLY HERE!

John Congleton, who Furtado says has an “incredible resume,” produced her new album called, The Ride. Congleton comes from a pop background and gave Furtado the edge she needed to transform her sound into something way cooler and way more interesting.

It sounds like she has been pushed to the limits, in a recent interview with i-D she talks about everything having to do with her new album.

“I would call the sound of the album modern pop-alternative. I write pop melodies, I’ve always written pop melodies. But John forces me to dig a little deeper and make sure that I’m coming correct with the lyrics. I was also in a really cool phase in my life where I was going through a difficult time of transition and that helped lyrically. I just had so much to write about. I think I grew as a songwriter on this album.”

The song that has been catching the most heat is called “Islands Of Me” and it embodies everything that we remember about Furtado with that little slight hit of something new. The sound is interesting and melodic; her music gives you a feel-good vibe.

This album is all Nelly, no features, just her. Get ready to step inside the singers new and improved identity as an artist. She really spread her wings and flew away to greatness.
