Dave East Paranoia: A True Story album dropped August 18, 2017.

David Brewster, better known by his stage name Dave East, was born on July 3, 1988 (29). This emcee from East Harlem, New York City, New York, became recognized in music as an artist to listen to, in 2014 with his debut mixtape Black Rose. Ever since then he has been making noise!

His Paranoia: A True Story album dropped August 18, 2017. This album featured superstars like Jeezy, Nas, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown and French Montana. Every song on this album is phenomenal! Speak of greatness. The next song feeds from the energy of the one before it. He chooses Jeezy to assist in introducing his concept in the very first track, “Paranoia.” From the beginning till the end of the project he kept my ears vigilant and aware. The lyrics were heartfelt, deep and told a story. The featured artists all play a part in conveying the story behind the album.

In “The Hated” featuring Nas, Dave addresses the close friends with hate and envy in their hearts. Nas is perfect for the storyline because he is a legend when it comes to storytelling. And what better person to use than a man who is known for the gift and talent needed.

Only a selected few in the rap game, today, can tell a story through their music. For Dave East to know who to use to effectively express his stories is a genius move. And for that, I grade his album an “A”. His creativity and lyricism stand out.
