Album Review: Abby Jasmine Releases “Growing Pains”

THE RELEASE PARTY AT BELAIRE

At Belaire headquarters in NYC, Abby Jasmine rode the elevator up to the fifth floor with gratitude and fierceness. She wore all black: a mini skirt with a white diamond-studded belt, a crop top, and cowgirl boots with a stylish jacket. Abby stepped off the elevator and commanded the room with ease, floating around with her pink hair flowing behind her and carrying her red Telfar bag. Guests congregated at Belaire to celebrate Abby Jasmine’s “Growing Pains” album release. Luc Belaire served signature cocktails named after tracks on the album like the SRT Mimosa made with Belaire Bleu, orange juice, and a dash of lemonade.

“GROWING PAINS”

“Growing Pains” is an R&B stroke of genius comprised of tracks meant to serenade listeners with ethereal harmonies, vocals, and melodies. With features from artists Fergie Baby and Alex Mali, Abby stacked her collaborations cohesively. The title track stands out as an up-tempo R&B nightclub hit with subtle hints of house and dancehall in the chorus. As soon as it gets quiet and the beat drops, Abby gets in her bag and layers vocals to create a sound listener have no choice but to dance with! “Don’t you go away,” she sings in the song, transporting listeners above the clouds with the airy sound.

The production of this album is breathtaking; it’s almost fictitious. The beats are cohesive, bleeding from one track to the next. Every track has a modern sound, including bass and creative vocal arrangements, and it’s easy to consider Abby Jasmine a mainstream vet even though she’s just getting started.

The album has 10 tracks and a running time of 30 minutes. The track list features all types of mainstream R&B sounds, including alternative R&B found in the song “World on Fire,” which has an electric guitar in the back and soft vocals from Abby that create a futuristic vibe.

Abby Jasmine channels her vulnerability

Abby Jasmine channels her vulnerability and emotions through the lyrics of “Growing Pains.” She uses the opportunity to lay all her relationship problems on the line. In the album, she concludes that she’s not chasing anyone, especially a man. She’s going with the flow, letting go, worrying about herself, and moving on. Abby is putting herself first, embracing her youth, and setting boundaries. But she lets it be known that she’s still human and that she feels things. All the ways Abby feels on this album and shares them with her listeners are valid! “You don’t deserve me; if you’ve gone desert me, then I’d rather just work on myself,” she sings on “Deserve It.”

Abby is a powerhouse in the booth, and this album is proof. Her hard work and consistency are paying off, and the proof is in the development of her artistry. An album like “Growing Pains” in her arsenal as a rookie is so important because it’s unique and incomparable while following the mainstream blueprint, which makes it easy for listeners to digest. Abby deserves huge congratulations, and she’ll receive plenty of recognition soon as she ascends toward success.
