A Black Lady Sketch Show: Skits We Can Finally Relate To ?

If you haven’t watched A Black Lady Sketch Show, then what exactly are you waiting on?

This HBO hit series comically taps into some of the most relatable moments in black culture! A Black Lady Sketch Show just wrapped up their second season which created so much buzz it was renewed for a third season. The Emmy nominated series was created by comedian and producer, Robin Thede. The series also includes Executive Producer, Issa Rae. This show is not just a limited narrative series, it is a series full of black joy! We appreciate the show so much because every once in a while, you just have to laugh! A Black Lady Sketch Show is a black woman’s galore and we are here for every episode!

This season portrayed many nostalgic memories, aha moments, and the best of black excellence in comedy. The season also welcomed two new stars, Skye Townend and Laci Mosley, who were a perfect addition to our favorite cast! It is great to see an authentic show we can relate to in a world where it is only SNL or other late shows to turn to for a fun narrative! With skits portraying “new hair growth” to family reunions it was hard to choose our favorite moments however here’s a quick recap featuring our favorite moments in season two!

It’s A Different Sketch World

We all love a great theme song and show opener! Gabrielle Dennis, Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Skye Townsend, and Laci Mosley were in a nostalgic paradise as they channeled the classic tv show “It’s a Different World”. With a hot girl theme song, it was a thrill to see their humorous “Hillman” tribute.

M.A.S.H

Remember what it was like to play M.A.S.H with your homegirls growing up? Were you ever able to land on the perfect mansion? Did it land on the hottest heartthrob from the early 2000s? Or even the luxurious dream car? Whatever your magic number landed on, A Black Lady’s Sketch Show kicked off the season with a trip down memory lane which had us all wanting a redo of M.A.S.H! To our surprise, the top heartthrob, Omarion, appeared in the skit!

Black Lady Courtroom…and Jury

“Black Lady Courtroom” was introduced to everyone in season one but this infamous skit appeared once again! More Black Girl Magic entered the courtroom with a jury of black queens. With a special appearance from Issa Rae, the skit wasn’t just “funny”, it was a beautiful moment to watch.

Blippity Blippity

Privileged healthcare, self-care techniques, and work-life balance! We all need it and the blippty gang was here to remind us! Our favorite gang returned this season in the newest skit “Gang Retreat”! With the purpose of improving the “Coral Reef”, the ladies focused on core values within self-care! No spoilers for those who missed it, you can catch this hilarious and relatable moment on episode 3!

When You Missed “The Last Supper”

Skye, Ashley, and Robin put their bible studies to the test as they were forced to sit at “the kids’ table” during one of the most life-altering moments in history. The turning point of this skit took place when “Mary”, portrayed by Gabrielle Dennis, teased the group about not having a “seat at the table” due to their old testaments. Although this skit was hilarious it was a brilliant take on the moments leading up to the Last Supper.

Before I Let Go

Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) made a special appearance in this hilarious skit about classic hits tuning out family drama at a reunion. Can you imagine being in the middle of a heated debate with your drunk Uncle? What if Frankie Beverly and Maze’s “Before I Let Go” plays during that very moment? It is true that the best tunes bring a family together for one of the best electric slides! This skit wasn’t just hilarious it was a true reflection of black families.
