Four-time Grammy-winner Lizzo has revolutionized shapewear with the creation of her brand, Yitty, in 2022. Since its inception, the artist has maintained the brand’s authenticity by introducing pieces in various sizes, from XS to 6X. Lizzo launched the brand in partnership with Fabletics after she had spoken of her own painful experience of wearing shapewear that wasn’t suited to her body.

The “Truth Hurts” singer has been a champion for body positivity since stepping onto the scene. She’s always embraced her figure and felt confident in her skin. Lizzo wanted other women to be aligned, making Yitty completely inclusive. Her inclusivity doesn’t stop at sizing. In 2023, the singer released a line to celebrate African-American culture for Black History Month.

Yitty honors Black History Month.

Following Yitty’s 2023 Black History Month capsule collection, the 35-year-old has re-released the line for 2024. Lizzo and head designer Kara Lacayo worked closely together to bring this line to life.

Inspired by Afrofuturism, the collection is priced from $59 to $129 and includes oversized hoodies, pants, logo shirts, and corset jackets. The pieces are the epitome of comfy-chic, making them ideal for everyday wear.

“Black History Month celebrates the perseverance and survival of our culture,” said Lizzo in a statement on the brand’s website. “While we honor Black History by working with Afrofuturistic designers and by proudly being a Black-owned business, we also want to remind everyone that every month is Black History Month. Every day we celebrate that, we are making better steps toward the future.”

During the initial capsule collection drop, the brand honored roller skater and founder of Rolla Magic, Ivy Briana, who modeled the line in her roller skates.

“Black History Month means celebrating the depth and multiplicity of Blackness,” said Briana via the website. “Celebrating what your Blackness looks like, not what anyone tells you it looks like.”

There are opportunities to grow Yitty’s Black History Month collection.

With the success of this line, a Black History Month capsule collection could become a permanent staple for the brand. If so, Lizzo can expand the line and incorporate different colors and styles.

Countless shoppers love to look cozy and fashionable during the winter season. As such, incorporating more variations of outerwear, sweatpants, jumpsuits, and tights would be ideal.

Consumers admire Yitty for its comfortability.

Shoppers gravitate towards Yitty because, above all else, the brand exudes comfort. All of the pieces are designed with the customer in mind. From loungewear to casual styling, the possibilities are endless. Lizzo has superbly achieved her mission of embracing all body types through Yitty, making the consumer feel comfortable and confident.

“I want you to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and feel f—ing confident and say: ‘I love you, and I want to treat you well; you deserve this,'” said Lizzo via Yitty.

Will Lizzo switch things up for Black History Month 2025? We’ll have to wait and see.
