Pyer Moss and Reebok recently released the final phase of their collaborative collection. The 4th collection was released on March 26th, only three months after the release of Experiment 4 – the emergency orange sneaker. It has been officially been three years since the release of collection 3: “American, Also.”
This may be the last that we see between the brands for a while. Last month Kerby-Jean Raymond, designer and founder of Pyer Moss, announced he would be departing from his Global Creative Director role at Reebok.
Inside Kerby-Jean Raymond’s Vision behind Pyer Moss
Much of the vision behind this new collection stems from Reebok’ street style history and Pyer Moss’s mission for justice. Kirby-Jean Raymond uses his fashion platform to not only showcase his one of a kind pieces but to highlight racial tensions affecting people around the world. The message of the fourth collection, “Champions Your Inner God”, represents re-evaluating the deeper meaning behind self reflection and seeing yourself as a vessel for higher purposes.
The collection consists of patterned windbreakers, cropped coats, dresses, matching sets and pants. Although the interpretation of the collection embraces a profound message, the color palette evokes passion and hope with deep reds and ethereal pale blues. Due to the collection’s exclusivity, most of the pieces are already sold out on Pyer Moss and Reebok’s site. However, some of the pieces are still available for purchase on Ssense.
If you’re a huge fan of Pyer Moss you can probably see that in some ways, collection 4 is sort of similar to collection 3 with the use of colors and patterns used. Sankofa was the major theme of collection 3. The word itself is a Twi word from the Akan tribe in Ghana and translates to: Go back and get it. Collection 3 also introduced us to the Experiment 4 “Fury Trail” sneaker. Raymond dropped collection 3 back in 2019 and split it into two drops.
Stop Crying, Pyer is Always Here
Although, the Reebok collaboration is coming to an end, this is not the last of the work that we will see from Kerby-Jean Raymond. Recently, he announced via his Instagram that he will be dropping Pyer’s first bag and heels collection that fortunately for us, came out yesterday!
Pieces from the newest collection come in yellow, red, green, and black in a variety of sizes. The bags are definitely pushing the boundaries of creativity. Some of the bags look like hands are grabbing them! Another style of the bags takes on a more classic look but still remains bold with specific structuring and loud colors.
As for the heels they take the same approach but instead of coming off as clunky and strange, they hold a sex appeal to them that makes any outfit come to life. Overall, the collection brings couture statement pieces to the forefront, and we begin to see more of that high fashion look that Pyer Moss always holds.
This news comes as very exciting for all of us as we begin to see more of the brand’s versatility. So wipe your tears and whip out your card, because the new bags are here gworls!
