Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa have teamed up on their first-ever collab “Sweetest Pie”. They announced the surprise collab last week on Instagram and released the horror-inspired video on Friday, March 11.
Despite the song’s title, the “Sweetest Pie” music video is more dark than sweet. Megan Thee Stallion is credited for coming up with the concept for the music video. The dark horror concept of the music video can be attributed to Megan’s love for horror film aesthetics. The video was directed by Dave Meyers, notable American music video director who has directed for musicians like Drake, Saweetie, and Kendrick Lamar. After the release of the music video, Megan went on twitter to clarify the symbolism of “Sweetest Pie”.
Sweetest Pie comes days before Megan joins Dua Lipa on her Future Nostalgia North American tour. Megan is opening for the levitating star in three locations:
Denver, Colorado, March 15th
Tulsa, Oklahoma, March 17th
Phoenix, Arizona, March 20th
With lyrics “Ooh, this the ride of your life. Hold on ’cause, baby, I might. I might just give you a bite of the sweetest pie”. Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa definitely deliver a music video that is a ride.
