6 Songs You Must Listen To This Week

newly released songs

Each week we compose a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear.  Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week! Don’t forget who put you on!

Holy Terrain // FKA Twigs feat. Future

2019 is full of surprising and almost uncanny musical collaborations. FKA Twigs and Future have joined forces to bring us the ever gliding Holy Terrain, a haunting collaboration that is more sultry than we could ever sum into words. Twigs beautifully string us along, like a repetitive spell that keeps you in tune for as long as her voice is present. Future adds an element that brings something contemporary to the eerie production that FKA is known for. There is no doubt in predictions that the duo will find themselves receiving great praise for their ability to make a great duo.

Fashion Week // Rico Nasty

Rico Nasty has become a universal Fashion Week icon. It was only right that she enchantingly boasts about all the designers gracing the New York runways this season. Fashion Week is a slow-paced rap that’ll easily place you in a trance of materialism. It’s the perfect way to place the mark of uniqueness in New York’s Fashion Week. Leave it to Rico Nasty to do that.

What You Did // Mahalia and Ella Mai

A midst the release of her debut album, Love and Compromise, Mahalia released her video for “What You Did” alongside mutual U.K. Sensation Ella Mai. Their voices flawlessly grace the surface of Cam’ron’s “Oh Boy”, which provides a strong sense of nostalgia. In this whirlwind of new female R&B artists, we need a strong duo to look forward to- and Mahalia and Ella Mai, know how to fulfill that spot in every which way.

Trippin // EARTHGANG feat. Kehlani

With the release of EARTHGANG’S third studio album, Mirrorland, came a whirlwind of wonderful collaborations. A fan favorite would be Trippin’ which makes the decision of including Kehlani. EARTHGANG has a knack for featuring artists’ and allowing them to remain authentic to their sound, while also implementing the authenticity of their own sound. Kehlani appears on this track in an obscure section, where jazz and blues come up against a very freestyle verse. Mirrorland is a very avant-garde styled album, but this song even more specifically exceeds the regular expectation of experimental, and it is executed flawlessly.

Maybe // Justin Skye

Justine Skye has always approached music in a very sultry sense. In her latest project, BARE WITH ME, we see her in a different light of the same sense. She maintains her ability to exude sex appeal and the beauty in her haunting voice, yet she remains vulnerable and unafraid to plead. “Maybe” showcases an indecisive side of Justine Skye, placing her at the forefronts of this new female R&B wave that is climbing its way to the very top of the charts.

Hair Down // SiR feat. Kendrick Lamar

What does it take to get Kung Fu Kenny out of his cage? A TDE drop! SiR released his third studio album, Chasing Summer. The leading single, Hair Down, is a track that is described as a song that you gradually learn to love. It’s not every day you release a slow-paced single, but if anyone can do that in a flawless manner, you’d leave to SiR and Kendrick Lamar (or any TDE member, just for the record.)
