Ladies, just as your skin is wealth, your hair follows that exact alignment. Investing in your hair not only helps you look beautiful, but it also helps your hair stay healthy. The mistake most women make is not treating their hair with care, resulting in hair damage. There are multiple ways to care for your hair. Don’t just wear wigs to cover up; do hairstyles that protect them from breaking. Hairstyles that help your hair grow are advisable. However, just like all hair extension techniques, there are advantages and disadvantages to most hairstyles. In this article, we look at different healthy and protective hairstyles you can try during the holidays.

1. Wigs

Wigs are nothing new and can be dated back as far as ancient Egypt. We can say that they’re a hot accessory that enables you to change your look in a snap. In fact, it is now the norm for women, including celebrities such as Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B; even your work colleague may be wearing one. Doing your hair research helps you use only the best hair extensions for your wig, so it can last for years.

A wig is one of the best options if you are self-conscious or uncomfortable with wearing your own hair. If you are suffering from disorders that cause hair loss, such as alopecia, this is an option. Your wig can be custom-made to minimize any tension. It will allow you to achieve the desired look without having to resort to other hair extension techniques. With a wig, you are able to let your scalp breathe and boost circulation with daily massages because you can take it off at the end of the day. You can also wash, treat, and moisturize your own hair, which promotes healthy hair growth.

2. Braids

After moisturizing, we can all safely say that protective styling is one of the golden rules in the healthy hair care world. You can have great retention with long-term braided styles. It is usually a great surprise to see the length that is retained once you remove your braids. Retention is achieved because you aren’t manipulating your hair, and with less manipulation comes more growth! But with many hairstyles, there are pros and cons, and long-term braided styles are no exception.

Leaving braids in your hair for too long can possibly cause matting, breakage, split ends, and tangles. A good rule of thumb is to have a protective style for no more than 4–8 weeks. This, however, can also depend on the protective style that is being worn. For example, braids with your own hair can last for about 4 weeks, while braids with extensions can be worn for 8 weeks.

3. Hair Extensions

Hair extensions have become a popular way to instantly boost the length and volume of your hair. The sky’s the limit with hair extensions because you can get any color and length you want. Sew-in hair extensions, also known as weave hair extensions, are a fast and easy-to-install hairstyle that is perfect for any occasion. The extension is usually sewn in with a needle and thread or attached with bonding glue or clip-ins.

These hair extensions will be removed after 4 to 12 weeks. Taking care of your extensions is critical if you want them to last longer and have as little impact on your real hair as possible. To minimize extreme irritation, take extra care of your scalp when using these extensions.

4. Natural Styles

For many years, black hair—especially curly, coily, or kinky hair—was referred to as hard to deal with and unprofessional. The debate on curly hair and professionalism has been raging for decades. While some people may still view curly hair as unkempt or unprofessional, Black women have grown to love and appreciate their beautiful natural hair. Looking at the benefits of our natural hair, it isn’t hard to see why. Natural hair is versatile when it comes to styling options. The lack of chemicals and an altered curl pattern promote healthy hair growth. Also, when properly cared for, natural hair grows fast and healthy.

5. Ponytail 60 Styled

There’ll always be something chic about a ponytail. Whether your hair is neatly pulled back into a simple, long, sleek dark ponytail or you decide to get creative with the ponytail and accessories, you’ll look stunning regardless. The options are endless with ponytails, as you can use different kinds of hair to do the ponytail. Taking care of it is also easy, depending on the style. For styling, edge control gel is usually used to lay the edges, and the rest of the hair is tied back neatly. You can then add accessories if you wish or just let it flow.

Remember that experimenting with your hair will help you know and understand your hair better while looking fabulous. Hair is a wonderful thing to experiment with because it’s so easy to manipulate. Whether you decide to chop it off, color it, lengthen it, or perm it, there’s always a way to elevate your appearance with a new hairstyle. Your hair is your lifetime crown, so make sure to take care of it.
