Songwriters for former Girl Group, 3LW, Claim Taylor Swift Stole Their Song

Remember 3LW? It seems like their songwriters want some coins now from Taylor Swift. The disbanded girl group, 3LW, made a song called “Playas Gon’ Play.” Here’s an excerpt:  “Playas, they gonna play/And haters, they gonna hate/Ballers, they gonna ball/Shot callers, they gonna call.”

3LW songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler are trying to sue Taylor Swift because they believe she unrightfully interpolated their song. In her 2014 hit, “Shake It Off,” she sang something slightly similar. In her song, she sang ‘Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play/And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate…”

Swift’s team surprisingly acknowledged their claim. One of her representatives stated “This is a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab.” There is virtually no case. Taylor Swift has been targeted a lot lately. Even though many of the accusations are reasonable, Hall and Butler may be taking advantage of her professional vulnerability.
